at the dentist they call
for [REDACTED].
of course, i don’t respond.
“are you here?”
no. certainly not.
but my toothache is worse
than the discomfort,
though only by a little.
so “yeah, i’m here” and stand.
“it’s nice to meet you, [REDACTED].”
but all I hear is static.
